Status update

Hi all, thanks for all your notes and text messages, it´s really comforting.

There has been some confusion around my condition and my note at this forum the other day did not add much clarity.

So here goes. First, there is nothing wrong with my heart, I´ll get back to this in a minute.

Last Saturday I got what´s known as an Ischaemic stroke. It is caused by a clot narrowing or blocking blood vessel so that blood cannot reach a particular area of the brain.

This leads to the death of brain cells due to lack of oxygen. Depending on where in the brain this occurs there are different consequences. When this happened I felt dizzy and my left arm and left part of my face was completely numb.

Today these symptoms are almost completely gone.The hospital´s stroke division has trying to find out what made this happened, so a million tests has been made.

To exclude that there is arteriosclerosis :) , (hardening of the arteries) they have done test of the arteries in my neck and examined my hart, but everything turns out normal. This was the result I was describing for you the other day. I have been dismissed from the hospital, but some extended blood analysis will be made and results from this will be presented in a few weeks.

Right now I am getting anticoagulation’s to prevent this from happening again. I am starting to understand the magnitude of what has happened to me and realizes that I have been extremely lucky.
